The Tornados United Soccer Club under-17 boys team from Turlock advanced to the State Cup Round 16. They won their first game this past Saturday against the FC Fremont Rangers 4-0. Captain Adam Bettencourt scored the first goal. Forward Chris Bettencourt scored 2 goals and right defensive back Kevin Wright scored the last goal with a header. The Tornados got strong defensive play from Kevin Wright, Leno Maldanado, Shawn Darmousseh, Marcus Roberson and Beau Villanueva.

By winning the game in the State Cup Round of 16, it advanced the Tornados to the State Cup Quarter Finals. Their first game of the Quarter Finals was on Sunday at 10:30 a.m. against the SC Sporting Academy. The game was intense and exciting. The offensive unit was led by Kevin Amaral, Keith Silveira, Eric Cortez, Charlie George, Vali Horta, Nate Thompson, Mark Costa, and Kenwardeep Sandhu. Forward Chris Bettencourt came up with the one and only goal clinching the win with the final score being 1-0. Goalkeepers Eddie Mulgado and Greg Singh combined for the two shutout games.

In the second game on Sunday, another intense and exciting game, the SC Breakers 88 scored first but the Tornados tied the game in the 25th minute with a tap in goal from forward Chris Bettencourt in the first half. The second half was a dramatic and electrifying game to watch. Only one 45 minute half to the State Cup Championship Game. Coach Louie Bettencourt said, whoever scores first goal in the second half of the game will win. Unfortunately it wasn’t the Turlock Tornados destiny to win this game. The final score was 2-1 in favor of the SC Breakers, knocking the Turlock Torndos out of the State Cup Championship game.

The Turlock Tornados B-U-17 Division I team set a record as the first team in the Turlock Youth Association B-U-17 Division I to make it past the State Cup round of 16 and into the State Cup Quarter Finals and into the State Cup Semi Finals. Which automatically qualified them for  membership for the Premier League. What an accomplishment 5 wins, 1 lost, 2 goals scored against, and a total of 21 points scored.

Hello!

Please post on web site.

Would you please say a BIG congratulations to our U18 Boys Team coached by Louie Bettencourt.  They are in the top 4 in N. California.

They had a good time this weekend playing very good competitors, they showed a lot of skill, energy, composure and love for the game.  They won 2 games and lot the semifinal by only 1-0.  They beat the last year's champions and played good enough to win, but fatigue settled in. They are great in our eyes for going that far against tough odds (heat, playing 3 competitive games in the same weekend...).  I as I'm sure a lot of us in the Tornados club are proud to have such talented players that set an example for our youngsters.

CONGRATULATIONS FOR A JOB WELL DONE, COACHES AND PLAYERS OF HTE U 18 TORNADOS!!!

Thank you,

DB
